A well-used footpath between the Singapore Boys’ Home and Saint Joseph’s Home at Jurong West Street 24 had many potholes and was slippery during rainy days. In view of public safety, Hong Kah North Constituency Office (CO) raised the need for a better footpath.

The footpath served as a shortcut for residents and students of Corporation Primary School, cutting across from Jurong West Avenue 2 to Jurong West Street 24.

Upon receiving the request, the Municipal Services Office (MSO) engaged Singapore Land Authority (SLA) to understand who owned the footpath.  As it turned out, the footpath was jointly occupied by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF)’s Singapore Boys’ Home and the Saint Joseph’s Home.

As majority of the footpath sits on MSF’s land, MSF took the initiative to level the portion of the footpath affected by ponding in May 2017 as an interim measure. Subsequently, MSF resurfaced the entire footpath and carried out improvement works to ensure proper drainage of rainwater in Jul 2017.
